2006 Competition Overview – Individual and
Team
The U.S. Kids Golf World Championship is both and individual and team
competition tournament.
The individual competition is stroke play for three rounds, with the
title of World Champion awarded to the boy and girl in each age and gender
group who plays the fewest total number of strokes for the three rounds of
competition. The top five players in each age group will receive trophies
to honor their accomplishments. All players who finish in the top ten for
each round will win an engraved silver plate commemorating their
achievement.
The team competition includes those boy's and girl's teams whose
players have qualified to represent their state or country. Players with
a U.S. Kids exemption will not be included in this competition. Based on
the order of finish for each round players will earn points. At the end
of the three days of play, the points earned for each round by each
teammate will be totaled, and the team wit the highest number of points
will be awarded the title of Team World Champion. All members of the top
three boy's and girl's teams will receive trophies for their
accomplishments.

Local Rule: A player shall take no more than 10
strokes on a hole. Once a 10 has been reached, a player must pick up his/
her ball and wait for the other players in the group to complete the hole.
Ties: All ties for first place in the individual age
group will be broken by a sudden death play-off immediately following the
completion of play for the age group. All other ties for second through
fifth (those places receiving trophies) will be broken by a scorecard
playoff starting with the last hole and going backwards on the card.
Tournament Rules: Play is governed by the United
States Golf Association (USGA) Rules of Golf & Decisions and
amended, where applicable, by Local Rules administered by the U.S. Kids
Golf Tournament Director.
Parental Responsibility: A parent or guardian must be
present for registration and at all times during the competition. All
parents, family members, or friends who are not caddying must follow the
guidelines of the Spectator Policy.
Spectator Policy: All spectators must remain on the
cart path or in the rough at all times. Spectators may NOT give the
player advice during the round. Spectators may NOT use any electronic
devices (cell phones, pagers, etc.) on the course. First offense:
warning; second offense: immediate removal of the spectator from the golf
course.
Use of Electronic Devices by Players and Caddy: Cell
phones, headphones, and pagers may not be used during play. First
offense: two-stroke penalty; second offense: disqualification.
Dress Code: Participants must adhere to the following
dress code: Only acceptable golf attire is permitted. Players are
prohibited from wearing shoes with metal spikes, short shorts, swimwear,
denim of any kind, t-shirts, or tank tops. Players not appropriately
attired will not be permitted to play.
Inclement Weather: The tournament committee makes all
decisions regarding weather delays and/or cancellations on site the day of
the event. Our intention is to play the event on its scheduled day, and
we will do everything possible, including reducing the number of holes of
the stipulated round, to determine the individual champions. If a delay
occurs, it is the player's responsibility to be ready when play resumes.
All players failing to start play on time after a delay will be assessed a
score of ten on that and any subsequent holes on which their group has
already begun play. You may not join your group during play of a hole,
you must join them on the next tee.
Code of Conduct: Violations of the code of conduct
include: abusive language, club throwing, cheating, disrespect of
volunteers or officials, abuse to the golf course or the facility,
littering, or any other conduct unbecoming of a tournament participant or
caddy. First offense: two-stroke penalty; second offense:
disqualification. Repeated violations may lead to rejection of future
entries.
Disqualification Policy: No player will be
disqualified for any rules violations of the Rules of Golf. Instead, the
player will be assessed a maximum score of ten on any hole where the
penalty would normally bring disqualification. In situations where the
round or hole has been completed, the score of ten will apply to the last
hole played or to the hole where the infraction occurred. Should a player
miss his tee time, he will be assessed a maximum score of ten on the first
hole and each additional hole not played with his assigned group.
Exceptions: a player or his caddy may be disqualified for code of conduct
violations or unauthorized use of electronic devices.
Starting Time: Please check your starting hole
assignment and arrive at your tee box at least five minutes early. If you
fail to arrive at your starting hole on time you will be assessed a two
stroke penalty. If you arrive at the tee more than five minutes after
your starting time you will receive a 10 on that hole and any future holes
you may miss. You may not join your group during play of a hole, you must
join them on the next tee.
Pace of Play: Caddys are asked to please refrain from
over-coaching the participant. It is the caddy's duty to help the players
hit each shot within a reasonable period of time. The player shall play
without undue delay, which is defined as taking no more than 45 seconds to
play a shot. If a player takes more than 45 seconds, he or she may be
subject to a penalty. First offense: warning, second offense: two stroke
penalty, subsequent offenses: score of ten on that hole. All penalties
will be at the discretion of the tournament director or rules official.
The 45-second rule is put into place to prevent over-coaching and slow
play.
The U.S. Kids Golf Tournament Committee reserves
the right to change the Rules and Regulations prior to the start of the
World Championship. |
